What does a personal trainer do?
A personal trainer is to minimize the risk of injury and guide their client to their goals. In the process aid them into a healthy lifestyle and open new avenues for them to enjoy.
Why get a personal trainer?
There is a lot to be said about the accountability factor here. A good trainer is a good listener and a motivator. They are continually taking classes and going to seminars to advance their knowledge and keep up to date with new findings. They should also be certified in nutrition. A good trainer could give the client the best workout session in the world. But unless the client is following it up with a sound food program it will fail. 80% of the success of losing weight and toning up is the food program. I like keeping it fun and changing the routines. Sometimes we are inside the gym, some days we are outside.
Should I lose weight before I start working out or hire a trainer?
I hear that one a lot. The answer is no. Studies have shown the clients who hire a personal trainer while losing weight loss twice as much as the people who do not work out. You will be faster results if you stick to a program with a good trainer.
Is there a consultation?
I get my clients working out on the very first visit. Most of my initial consultations are over the phone. That is where I gather up information on the client’s goals and needs. When they come in while they are warming up I will go thru a short medical questionnaire. I go thru the program that I have so far for them. I do the weighing and measuring and the physical assessments at that time also.
How soon should I expect to see results?
If you are following a sound food plan and committing to your training schedule, most clients start to see some results the first week. Again the more you come in, the more active you are and committing to a sound food program the faster the results.
Do you accept credit cards?
I only accept checks and cash. Returned checks are subject to my banks service charge and $15 service charge by me. All sessions are paid at time of service. Since I keep my prices right below gym prices, clients do not have to buy 30-40 sessions to get a good price. I keep them right under their good deal. I don’t believe in going into dept to get into shape and make your self healthy.
What is your hourly rate?
My hourly rate is $75 an hour. 98% of my business comes to me. But in the event of a client who wants me to come to the house the rate is double. I also have a policy if a client refers me a client who comes to me. They get a free training session. I don’t put a limit on that ever. To me that is the nicest way of saying thank you to a client.
What about cancellations?
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. I charge for no shows. Yes there are emergencies that happen and I do take those into consideration.
Why would I hire you?
Because I am confident you will see results in the fast and safest amount of time. I have been in the business for over 25 years starting with Richard Simmons in the late ‘70’s. My background is in nutrition and weight loss, rehab, kinesiology, physiology, Pilates, weight training, and endurance training. So you will never be bored that is for sure.
